All you need to know about Qatar National Day 2015

As you may know, the annual Qatar National Day holiday falls on 18th Dec 2015, and the date is marked in 1878 when Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani rallied tribes of the peninsula into unified people and since then it has been history....

Just like last year, Qatar Tourism Authority will be providing rides to Darb Al Saai from Souq Waqif, Aspire Park, Sheraton Park and The Pearl-Qatar on the very famous Doha Bus.Celebrations for this auspicious and memorable occasion have already begun at various venues around Doha which include Darb Al Saai in Al Sadd.Buses will leave from their stationary locations every day at 7:00, 9:00, 15:00, 17:00 and 19:15 running through 20th Dec 2015.Here are Four and One, we want you to experience the National Day of Qatar just as you always do so we have made a detailed guide to what will be going on around town.


One of the main locations for National Day celebrations is the Doha Corniche which has already been decorated with flowers, plants, lights and the flag of Qatar.

Announcements have not yet been made about timings as there are expectations that the parade rehearsals may cause temporary Corniche closures through this week.

The Annual Parade will be held opposite Al Rumailah and Al Bidda parks from about 8:00 to 8:40 whereas the preliminary show will be from 7:00 until 7:40.

Arrangements for seating thousands of people has been made. If you did not know, the parade appears to be a family-geared event so there are times where hundreds of single men who turn up to watch are turned away from the celebrations by legal authorities.

The Annual Parade includes marches by the Armed Forces, Civil Defense, Ministry of Interior, Lekhwiya and several other governmental bodies. Aerial and sea displays by the air force and navy will be carried out for entertainment. A fireworks display will be held on the Corniche from 20:00 to 20:10.

Darb Al Saai

A large area that has been set up in Al Sadd known as Darb Al Saai is a location where numerous activities,cultural offerings and performances are hosted until 20th Dec 2015.

There will not be any fireworks this year but the grounds have been increased and there is a lot of food, handmade items, clothing and other merchandise.

Note: On 13th Dec 2015, Darb Al Saai will be open to females only.

Al Nassa

Basics of shooting under the supervision of trainers can be tried out by visitors. This section includes a collection of tents that depict Bedouin life where food is made, rugs are sewn and refreshments are served to visitors. Pictures with falcons can be taken by people on request. There are storytellers and musicians who play traditional instruments.

Al Beda

Maritime heritage of Qatar is on display where you can see sunken boats in the sand, information on how pearl divers and fishermen used to live centuries ago. According to source, there is inclusion of the ships they used and fish they used to catch in the earlier days.

Traffic City

The Traffic City is a children’s village which includes a track where kids can use bicycles with traffic lights and police supervision. If that is not enough, then there is also a room which has driving simulators and driving-related arcade games.

Doha Tent

Government authorities and ministries have events in the Doha tent which includes the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning and the General Authority for Customs.People can learn to make films using their handheld devices under the guidance of the Doha Film Institute.

The Pearl-Qatar

From 11:00 to 23:00 on 17th and 18th Dec, photographers are cordially invited to capture the best moments of National Day from various points at the parking lots of Pearl-Qatar.
